About

2015

Hi!

I’m Betsy, a proud Bowling Green State University Falcon (’79)!  I majored in physical education, but I took a temporary summer job with The Blade (Toledo, Ohio) newspaper and before I knew it, I was retiring after a very satisfying 32 year career as a circulation manager!

I’m from Sylvania, Ohio, a suburb of Toledo.  I belong to three pickleball clubs in the Toledo area – Toledo Pickleball Club, Sylvania Pickleball Club and Holland Pickleball Club.   Then, I spend my winters in SW Florida where I golf and play pickleball.  I am on the board of directors for The Brooks Pickleball Club in Estero, Florida.  Two weeks in February each year, I go to Colorado where I ski and play with the Summit County Pickleball Club.

I have enjoyed playing in many tournaments around the USA including the US Open Championships in Naples, Florida and Nationals at Indian Wells in California where I won a silver medal in 4.0 mixed doubles.

A lover of travel, I have played in pickleball tournaments in Spain (twice), the Netherlands (twice), England, Scotland, Germany and Finland.  I was part of the North American team for the inaugural Bainbridge Cup in 2017 in Madrid, and another BC in Essen, Germany.   Covid-19  brought my international travels to a screeching halt, but I plan to return to England in 2023.

In short, pickleball has defined my retirement!

I hope you enjoy my blog!
